    Journey Begins – Bagdogra to Phuentsholing

    Welcome to the gateway of the Himalayas! 🏔️
    Arrive at Bagdogra Airport and begin your scenic drive toward Phuentsholing, the charming border town that marks your entry into Bhutan — the Land of the Thunder Dragon. Once you complete the immigration formalities, spend your evening soaking in the calm vibes of the town. If time permits, visit Zangtog Pelri Lhakhang, a peaceful temple right in the heart of Phuentsholing. It’s the perfect beginning to your Himalayan escape with HikerWolf.

    Into the Mountains – Phuentsholing to Thimphu

    After breakfast, get ready for a breathtaking drive through the lush hills and winding mountain roads. Pass through Gedu, Chukha, and Chuzom, where rivers and roads twist together in perfect harmony. As you ascend, the air turns cooler and the landscapes greener, leading you to Thimphu, the capital city of Bhutan.

    Once you arrive, check into your hotel and take the evening at your own pace — maybe a short walk through the peaceful streets or a cozy cup of butter tea while watching the sunset behind the hills.

    Discovering Thimphu – Then Onwards to Phobjikha

    Today’s all about diving into Bhutan’s rich culture and charm! Begin your morning at Simply Bhutan, a vibrant living museum that brings local traditions to life. Continue to the colossal Buddha Dordenma, one of the largest Buddha statues in the world, and then head to the Royal Takin Reserve to meet Bhutan’s unique national animal — the friendly, furry Takin.

    After lunch, start your scenic drive to the mystical Phobjikha Valley, stopping at the Dochula Pass en route. With its 108 memorial chortens and panoramic Himalayan views, this pass is one of the most photographed spots in Bhutan. Arrive in Phobjikha and soak in the valley’s peace and beauty.

    Valley Vibes – Phobjikha to Punakha

    Wake up to the calm of the valley and visit the revered Gangtey Monastery, surrounded by sweeping glacial plains. Take a relaxing walk through the serene Phobjikha Valley, famous for its untouched beauty and as a winter home to the rare black-necked cranes.

    Later, drive down to Punakha, the former capital of Bhutan and a place that feels straight out of a postcard. Visit the majestic Punakha Dzong, dramatically located where two rivers meet, and cross the iconic suspension bridge for some unforgettable views. End your day with a visit to the charming Chimi Lhakhang, also known as the Temple of Fertility.

    Punakha to Paro – A Journey Through Beauty

    After breakfast, hit the road toward Paro, a quaint and picturesque town nestled among mountains and meadows. En route, keep your eyes on the skies — if luck is on your side, you might witness a plane gracefully landing at the world-famous Paro Airport, known for its thrilling approach between towering peaks.

    On arrival, visit the grand Rinpung Dzong, a 17th-century fortress that beautifully blends history, culture, and architecture. Spend your evening wandering through Paro’s cozy streets, trying local delicacies like steaming momos and ema datshi at one of the many inviting cafés.

    The Iconic Hike – Tiger’s Nest Monastery

    Today is the highlight of your Bhutan adventure — the hike to Tiger’s Nest Monastery (Taktsang Monastery)! Perched dramatically on a cliffside, this sacred site is said to be where Guru Padmasambhava meditated in the 8th century. The hike may be challenging, but every step rewards you with breathtaking views, crisp mountain air, and a deep sense of peace.

    Return to Paro by evening and relax after your memorable day.

    Paro to Jaigaon – A Scenic Goodbye

    It’s time to begin your descent from the mountains. Drive back toward Jaigaon, the border town in India, retracing the beautiful landscapes that have become familiar over the past week. Spend your evening in Phuentsholing, exploring local markets for souvenirs or sipping a cup of Suja (Bhutanese butter tea) as you bid farewell to this peaceful kingdom.

    Farewell Bhutan – Jaigaon to Bagdogra

    Start early with a packed breakfast as you drive back to Bagdogra Airport for your return journey. As you look back on the snow-capped peaks and winding valleys, take with you the warmth, serenity, and stories that make Bhutan so special.

  • Valid Identity Proof (Passport/voter Card), along with 5 Photocopies for each document.
  • If you do not have either of Passport or Voter ID Card, please carry an Aadhaar Card along with another supporting document such as a PAN Card / Driving License / Ration Card. In this case please inform the lead in advance.
