Welcome to Srinagar! Upon reaching Srinagar Airport (pickup around 1 PM), you will meet your HikerWolf Trip Leader, who will be there to guide you throughout the journey. If time allows, we will explore some popular places in Srinagar like the peaceful Dal Lake, the famous Shankaracharya Temple, and the beautiful Mughal Gardens. Later, relax with a calm Shikara ride on Dal Lake, a must-try experience in Srinagar. In the evening, unwind at your comfortable hotel or spend the night in a traditional houseboat, surrounded by the calm waters and chilly mountain breeze.
After breakfast, we’ll begin our scenic drive towards Kargil. On the way, we’ll stop at Sonamarg, known for its stunning meadows and snow-capped peaks. Driving further, we’ll pass through the adventurous Zojila Pass, one of the highest mountain passes in the region, offering breathtaking views.
Our next stop will be Drass Village, famously known as the world’s second coldest inhabited place. Here, we’ll visit the iconic Kargil War Memorial, a tribute to the brave soldiers who fought during the Kargil War.
By evening, we’ll reach Kargil, where we’ll settle in for a relaxing overnight stay. Get ready to experience the rich history and captivating landscapes along the way!
After breakfast, we’ll continue our journey towards Leh, passing through breathtaking landscapes and iconic landmarks. En route, we’ll visit the ancient Lamayuru Monastery, known for its stunning architecture and peaceful vibes.
As we approach Leh, we’ll explore some remarkable spots: the mysterious Magnetic Hill, where vehicles appear to move uphill on their own; the mesmerizing Zanskar-Indus Confluence, where two rivers meet in a stunning blend of colors; the historic Gurudwara Pathar Sahib, a sacred site with a rich spiritual history; and the inspiring Hall of Fame, dedicated to the brave soldiers of the Indian Army.
Later, if time permits, we’ll stroll through the lively Leh Market, perfect for shopping local handicrafts and souvenirs. We’ll end the day with a peaceful visit to the serene Shanti Stupa, offering stunning sunset views over Leh.
Overnight stay in Leh, preparing for the exciting adventures ahead!
After breakfast, we’ll start the day with a visit to the historic Leh Palace, offering stunning views of the city and surrounding mountains. From there, we’ll drive towards the breathtaking Khardung La Pass, standing tall at 18,380 ft, one of the highest motorable roads in the world.
Descending from Khardung La, we’ll enter the beautiful Nubra Valley, known for its unique blend of lush greenery and desert landscapes. We’ll explore Diskit Village, home to the famous Diskit Monastery and its towering Buddha statue.
Later, get ready for an exciting camel safari in the cold desert dunes of Hunder, where you can spot the rare double-humped Bactrian camels.
We’ll end the day with an overnight stay in the serene Nubra Valley, surrounded by stunning mountain views and starry skies.
After breakfast, we’ll visit the iconic Diskit Monastery, home to a towering Buddha statue that overlooks the stunning Nubra Valley. The monastery’s peaceful aura and panoramic views make it a must-visit spot.
From there, we’ll head towards the mesmerizing Pangong Lake via the scenic Shayok Route. Nestled at an altitude of 13,900 ft, Pangong’s crystal-clear waters constantly shift shades of blue, creating a magical sight.
As evening falls, relax by the lake and soak in the tranquility. The clear night sky makes Pangong Lake a perfect spot for stargazing, offering a breathtaking view of the Milky Way.
We’ll spend the night in cozy camps by the lake, surrounded by nature’s peaceful charm.
Travel from the mesmerizing Pangong Tso to the remote village of Hanle on one of the most scenic and adventurous routes in Ladakh, covering approximately 180 km through the breathtaking Changthang Valley.
This lesser-explored region is known for its raw beauty and unique wildlife, where you might spot the elusive Himalayan Red Fox, Kiang (Tibetan wild ass), and in rare cases even the majestic Snow Leopard. The journey passes through remote settlements such as Tangtse, Man, Merak, Chushul, Tsaga and Loma, each offering stunning landscapes perfect for short rest stops and photography.
En route, pay tribute at the historic Rezang La War Memorial, dedicated to the brave Indian soldiers who sacrificed their lives during the Sino‑Indian War. By evening, arrive at Hanle, a serene high-altitude village located along the ancient Silk Route.
Hanle is home to the renowned Indian Astronomical Observatory, one of the highest astronomical observatories in the world, situated at around 14,764 ft and housing India’s largest telescopes.
After checking into your cozy cottage or homestay and taking some rest, step outside under the crystal-clear skies for an unforgettable stargazing experience, where the spectacular Milky Way often shines brightly. Do carry warm winter clothing, as the night temperatures in this remote Himalayan region can drop significantly.
After an unforgettable week exploring the breathtaking landscapes of Ladakh, it’s time to begin a scenic journey back to Leh—a ride that beautifully wraps up your Himalayan adventure. After a hearty breakfast, we drive through stunning mountain vistas and picturesque valleys where every turn offers a view worth capturing. En route, we pass through Chumathang, famous for its naturally occurring mineral-rich hot springs nestled along the banks of the Indus River.
Continuing the journey, we visit the iconic Druk Padma Karpo School, popularly known as Rancho School from the Bollywood movie 3 Idiots. We then explore the historic Shey Palace, once the summer capital of Ladakh’s royal family, followed by the magnificent Thiksey Monastery, one of the most beautiful and architecturally striking monasteries in Ladakh that offers deep insights into the region’s rich Buddhist culture and traditions.
As the day comes to an end, arrive in Leh with countless memories, stunning photographs, and a heart full of gratitude for this incredible Ladakh experience. Enjoy a delicious dinner followed by a comfortable overnight stay in Leh.
After breakfast, it’s time to bid farewell to the mesmerizing landscapes of Ladakh. We’ll head to Leh Airport by noon, carrying with us unforgettable memories of snow-capped peaks, serene lakes, and warm local hospitality.
