1. Banasura dam

2. Wayanad Fauna

4. Edakkal Caves

And, the caves are 96 and 22 feet in length and width respectively and are 1,200 meters above sea level.  Due to its precarious position, you have to walk for an hour and a half (about 4000 feet) to reach the entrance of the cave and another 45 minutes to reach the mouth of the cave.  The caves of Edakkal are of historical and archaeological importance, as they have sculptures that date back to the Neolithic era, the end of the Stone Age. Further, the masonry inside the cave is estimated at 5000 – 1000 BC.

Edikkal means “a stone in the middle” and describes its formation well.  A smaller rock was wedged between 2 larger ones to form a natural cave.  In the truest sense of the word, it is not a cave but a natural crack in the rock that has a heavy rock on top.  The cave has 2 levels and you can explore the first level of the cave through a small opening.  Just in front, a passage leads to another opening, this time on the roof.  Here you reach the second level, which is much larger, and to explore the caves, visitors must overcome irregular rocks, an iron staircase, and mushroom-covered rock walls.  The walls are covered with sculptures of animals and human figures, some of which are blurred, but above all clear.  The clarity of the sculptures is even more surprising given the length with which they survived.

5. Soochipara waterfalls
