DETAILED ITINERARY
DAY 1: Arrive at Leh | Local Sightseeing
Welcome aboard wolves! Pat your hearts and say, “aal izz well” because we’re at Leh! Our much-awaited Leh trip finally starts with us meeting here. Since the climate here is very different from the lower altitude places, we need to acclimate ourselves first. We want you to be healthy and safe, right? This is why we spend the day in the main city of Leh and get accustomed to the oxygen levels of the place. But don’t worry, we won’t let you get bored! There are many local sightseeing places you can visit while you are here.
When you feel all good and comfortable, we set along to visit our first local destination, the Leh Palace. Also known as the Lachen Palkar Palace, this building overlooks the whole city of Leh and the scenic beauty will blow your mind. Discover the architecture of the Tibetans and spend some time marveling at this 9-story stone structure.
Ready for our next stop? It is the Shanti Stupa. This white dome-shaped stupa is situated high up the Chanspa hilltop. Enrich yourself here with the culture of Buddhists and meditate to channel your thoughts. The stupa is surrounded by snow-capped mountains in the winters which makes it even more beautiful. After you are all satisfied with the sightseeing of the local Leh, come back for an intensive shopping spree at the Leh local market. Enjoy the local fashion here while trying some famous Leh dishes. Return to our accommodation for a delicious dinner and an overnight stay here at Leh.
DAY 2: Leh to Kargil | via Sham Valley
How’s the josh? HIGH, SIR! Because today we are going to Kargil. But before reaching our final destination after an almost 5 hours journey, we will explor some Enroute sights too. The first stop is Gurudwara Patthar Sahib where lies a rock that resembles the shape of Guru Nanak’s back. There is also a demon’s footprint on the display. Needless to say, the backdrop is painted with magnificent hills and a chilly breeze.
We then set our course back to our destination via the Magnetic Hill or Cyclops Hill. Don’t panic if the car moves at 20-30 kph even on neutral gear. That’s the wonder of the magnetic hill! The landscape has a strong gravitational force and while we are going uphill, it will seem like we are defying gravity itself. Next, we reach the Indus & Zanskar confluence at Nimmu where the Indus River meets the Zanskar River. This picturesque landscape will serve your camera roll just right!
Moving on, we visit our last en-route destination, which is the Likir Monastery. Here, we explore the architectural and cultural dynamics of the rich Tibetan traditions. Spend some time with the young monks studying in the Gompa and indulge yourself in a peaceful environment. Thereafter, we finally set along the highway continuously leading to Kargil. We reach Kargil by evening and check in to our accommodation for an overnight stay here.
DAY 3: Kargil | Local Sightseeing and Snow Activities
Good morning wolves! A healthy breakfast and a day filled with explorations await you. Post breakfast, we start exploring Kargil, and what’s the best way to do that other than visiting the infamous Kargil War Memorial in Dras? Fill your hearts with pride while visiting this historical place built by the Indian Army after the 1999 Kargil War. After you are all satisfied with this historical brainstorming we go for a snow-filled experience!
Do you wanna build a snowman? Kargil is one of the best spots for snow activities such as skiing, sledding, and of course, snow fights! After we’re done with the local sightseeing, we have arrangements for these activities for you to enjoy. Thereafter, when you are all covered in snow and looking like snowmen yourself, we return to our accommodation in Kargil and call it a night! Have a delicious dinner and another overnight stay here at Kargil. Don’t miss out on the chance to stargaze. We can also arrange bonfires and music too while we enjoy the last of Kargil in the night.
DAY 4: Kargil to Leh | via Aryan Valley Camp
Another day, another adventure! It is time to return to Leh. But not so fast because while we are on our way to Leh, we drive through the town of Batalik. Do you know that the much-talked-about Kargil war was fought here itself? This sight served as the focal point of the Kargil War because of its geographical advantage. Explore the town and the Karsha Gompa. We can also visit the Kargil viewpoint here before setting back on our course to Leh.
We then take a halt at the pit-stop of Aryan Valley Camp. This is where the renowned clan of the Aryans lives. Explore the village, know about their lifestyle and have a conversation with a real Aryan clan member over a cup of tea! Know about their historical background while learning about their cuisines and festivals. Have lunch here and then continue the journey back to Leh. We reach by evening to have a delicious dinner at our accommodation. Have an overnight stay at Leh.
Day 5: Head home with loads of happy memories!
